Two thousand NY State men charged with strangulation in 3 months

A new law was enacted in New York State last November making strangulation a felony and strenthening sentencing in domestic violence arrests.
Sounds like the wife beaters are going to have to get more creative in the Empire State.
These upstanding fellows were listed as examples of those charged under the new law:
Sunday, April 3rd La Kbaw, 41, punched his wife above her eye and then choked her until she couldn’t breathe.
In late February Almonzo Davis, 30, grabbed his ex-girlfriend’s neck with both of his hands, choking her so she couldn’t breathe.
A week prior to Davis, William Monaghan, 49, physically restrained a 48-year-old woman, choking her by placing his arm across her neck and throat, causing her to be unable to breathe.
Most of the arrests – 1,200 of them – were made in New York City but my former hometown, located in Erie County, comes in 3rd place with 81 arrests. Keep in mind these all took place in THREE MONTHS.
New York state – defending the tradition of sacred, heterosexual, marriage one attempted strangulation at a time!
